Let's imagine that every superhero read a lot before activating his super abilities!

Everyone knows that reading is beneficial, but why? Is there evidence behind this common belief? How about looking at some of the best-known benefits of daily reading, backed up by research and scientific evidence. Reading has been proven to be one of the best activities for increasing intelligence because it not only diversifies and increases vocabulary, but also stimulates the area of the brain responsible for memory. This is due to the need to memorize many elements that the reader must keep track of--events, characters, dates, etc. As children we learn everything very quickly and absorb information like a sponge, and although the rate of learning in adulthood is not as fast, nevertheless, it does not end. The University of London conducted a study that tested the vocabulary of the same people, first at age 16 and then at age 42. Researchers asked participants how often they read and asked other simple questions about their daily habits. The average score for the younger age group was 55 percent and 63 percent for the older group, meaning that people continue to learn and improve their language skills even as adults. And it was also noted that participants who often read for pleasure had the highest scores. It's not just adults who broaden their horizons while reading. Children probably show the most impressive intelligence development scores when reading. A paper published by the University of California, Berkeley, shows that children can learn 50 percent more words from children's books than they can from watching TV or even from a conversation between two college graduates. Which in turn leads not only to higher reading test scores, but also general intelligence tests. When it comes to relaxing and calming activities, reading tops that list. A study conducted at the University of Sussex in England found that just 6 minutes of reading was enough for participants to distract themselves, relax, and reduce their stress levels by 68%.
