In classical music literature and music history textbooks, it is customary to divide music into "professional" and "traditional". It cannot be said that this division was very rigid and very stable, but it never went out of use. The boundaries have blurred, but this term is still able to significantly shorten the text, so, no matter what, it is still used. By "professional" in these textbooks and other musicological works we mean academic music.
