Trying to replace negative thoughts with positive ones may provide temporary relief, but in the long term the anxiety is likely to worsen.
Trying with all our might to avoid discomfort or doubt, we use any tools to combat anxiety: avoidance, safe behavior, positive thinking, rationalization, calculating probabilities, avoiding triggers... But all of them, like the voice of False Comfort, simply cannot calm the anxiety: More and more reasons for worry appear.
