In one of the books I came across one very funny phrase, when a guy said to a girl - something got into my eye, could you look? She looked and answered - it was really bad. There I am. And you cant get me out. Memory is a mental process capable of acting autonomously and bringing images and passages into consciousness without asking permission. But the good news is that this process can be controlled. You will need to use banal but extremely effective techniques, believe in yourself and time. For some, two weeks is enough, for others it takes six months.
