A controversial issue between people who reads and who also reads fiction. Use and necessity! Reading art books.

Literature gives us a tremendous, vast and profound experience of life. It makes a person intelligent, develops in him not only a sense of beauty, but also understanding - understanding life, all its complexities, serves as a guide to other eras and to other peoples, opens people's hearts to you. In a word, it makes you wise. But all this is given only when you read, delving into all the details. For it is often in the little things that the most important things are found. And this kind of reading is only possible when you read with pleasure, not because a particular work needs to be read (whether for school curriculum or for fashion and vanity), but because you like it - you feel that the author has something to say, something to share with you and he knows how to do it. Every time I meet a friend of mine who is in business and reads mostly non-fiction, our conversation ends in an argument: he genuinely wonders why I "waste my time" on fiction books. Like, these fictional stories do not make any sense - only a waste of time. You learn nothing, you learn nothing, and if you want to have fun, it's easier to watch a movie. Every time I'm amazed beyond belief. But I wondered: what if these people who do not like the "art", a lot? And I decided to write about what gives me fiction and why I would not trade it for anything. We put out a lot of books about emotional intelligence and talk endlessly about the benefits of empathy. But I think it's fiction that is one of the coolest ways to pump up these skills. When we read about the experiences of a character, we feel his pain: we put ourselves in his place, we try to understand his feelings, we live each moment. We learn empathy, we try the situation on ourselves and go through full-fledged empathy training. In real life this experience helps us to empathize with other people, be more responsive and understanding partners and friends.
